Once finished my four-year degree at The University of Guelph’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management in Toronto, I found myself on a jet plane. I would spend the next three years on an unforgettable adventure marching through 50 countries on all corners of the globe. During my travels I became obsessed with showcasing the best local eats and connecting culture to the kitchen. I was a travel blogger with a penchant for food photos.
Built in 1927, Windsor Arms gained a distinctive reputation as an intimate luxury hotel during its 64-year history. Closed in 1991, the hotel re-opened its doors in 1999, headed by developer and owner George Friedmann. Mr. Friedmann completely rebuilt the hotel, providing first-class luxury suites fitted with the latest communication and technology for the 21st century, while maintaining its Neo-Gothic architecture. The Windsor Arms has been a preferred haunt for celebrities, political dignitaries and discerning guests who found a treasure in Toronto's trendy Yorkville.
Last week, one of Toronto's Five Star hotels, the Windsor Arms was gracious enough to invite me over for Twilight Tea. Before we headed in for tea, Chrisitine, my lovely host, took me on a beautiful tour of the historical property. I had no idea we had such a little gem nestled in the heart of Yorkville.
