She’s the woman who wiped your tears—and, yes, your bottom—who kissed scraped knees and held her tongue (or not) during your teen years. But how do you show her your appreciation? We mothers love nothing more (and I do speak from experience here) than not having to cook and feeling like we’re spoiled. Throw in a sumptuous setting and possibly a glass of bubbly along with a pot of tea, and we’re likely to forgive you for that time you decided to venture off on your own in a crowded mall. For an hour. When you were three.
The Gist: A stalwart for classic design and luxury, the Windsor Arms features 28 suites with such features as a Butler service, limestone bathrooms with Molton Brown bath supplies and musical instruments including baby grand pianos, harps and guitars. In contrast to the old-world take on luxury, suite amenities also include iPod docking stations, state-of-the-art sound systems, flat screen TVs and wireless internet access. A must-see venue is The Tea Room, a French-style lobby that has been in operation since 1927.
We were fortunate enough to be front and center for the unveiling of the Jacques Vert Group, Elegant British Brand’s new Spring 2015 Collection. Britain’s premier occasion wear brand, Jacque Vert Group’s new spring line focuses on head-to-toe looks for the Mother of the Bride/Groom, bridesmaids, wedding guests or for the bride herself. Whether an evening or day wedding, cityscape or country wedding – there is something for every woman to look and feel her best. Hosted by Hudson’s Bay and Jacque Vert Group the event was definitely an affair to remember!
Treasure Chest is a brand-new vintage store tucked inside a very, very old space. The wainscotted and leopard-carpeted little cubbyhole of a shop, located on the ground floor of the the Windsor Arms Hotel (est. 1927), is currently home to several dozen glittering, exquisite pieces of handpicked vintage clothing. Before then, as owner Samantha Michelle tells it, it was a Laduree-style tea shop, then a barbershop, then a series of hotel-lobby bars.
