The Windsor Arms Hotel is an acquired taste. If you are looking for that 1920’s Humphrey Bogart, Great Gatsby vibe, you have come to the right place. While some prefer modern and trendy, others measure luxury in history and culture. The moment I emerged from my Uber onto what felt like a side street in London town, I was greeted by a uniformed bellhop who held my door and directed me to the lobby elevator. I rode to the fourth floor and exited onto a dimly lit hallway with cream and black walls. Lined with black and white photographs of Hollywood’s finest—Ali MacGraw, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand and Audrey Hepburn, this place was dripping in old world charm.
On May 23rd, I had the pleasure hosting some of my favourite local foodies for a Brunch in the City at the historical Windsor Arms. A collaboration between celebrity chef and host Christine Tizzard (Best Recipes Ever) and Windsor Arms chef Maxime Roy, we enjoyed a delicious (and nutritious) family-style brunch using Canada’s own favourite cooking oil- Canola!
I don’t think we have to remind you about how much we love brunch here at FGFS. So when Abbey from Abbey’s Kitchen sent me an e-mail inviting me to a brunch at the Windsor Arms Hotel she was hosting in conjunction with celebrity chef/host Christine Tizzard and Canola Eat Well, you know that my RSVP was an obvious YES.
We walked into the beautifully appointed grand ballroom of the Windsor Arms Hotel where the dinner would be held. The table setting was elegant and every seat was sold. The second floor provided some stunning views of the dinner below. .
